Bournes relocation solutions meet with global mobility professionals at the Expat Academy event Currently there are over 50 million expats worldwide and on the 12th and 13th October Global Mobility professionals responsible for managing a number of those on international assignments gathered at The Expat Academy conference to connect and share their success stories, best practices and challenges in 2 great days of learning and networking.

As a training partner for The Expat Academy Bournes Relocation Solutions were honoured to be part of the 2 day event to take part in these discussions and learn from our clients how we can continue to support them in overcoming their challenges and reaching their goals (and of course to share some delicious cake to celebrate our 140th birthday!).

Chrissie Wellington, four time Ironman champion inspires the Expat Academy members Key themes of discussion were talent management, measuring success, best practice for using different types of policies, diversity and inclusion and the risks associated with commuters and business travellers. Guest panels from a range of diverse organisations shared their experiences and participated in Q&A sessions for all to take some value from. Many companies in the room were already taking steps to achieve their goals and overcome these challenges and attendees enjoyed and highly valued the opportunity to share their experiences and thoughts with others facing similar challenges in doing so.

As well as the practicalities of managing Global Mobility The Expat Academy invited two fantastic and accomplished guest speakers , Debra Searle MVO MBE (self-titled ‘professional adventurer’ who amongst her many achievements rowed solo across the Atlantic) and Chrissie Wellington MBE (4 time iron man champion and Head of Participation for Parkrun with a passion for International Development) provided food for thought in sharing their inspirational stories which attendees would find hard to not draw at least one analogy that can easily inspire their own professional career or personal life.
