Directions: Our Surrey Local Removals branch is based in Cranleigh, in close proximity to Guildford, Horsham and Dorking. Our postcode for GPS systems is GU6 8EH. Our office and storage warehouse is located on Horsham Road (B128) about 1/2 a mile before you reach Cranleigh village.

Surrey Branch Opening Hours: We can help with your move requirements any time with crews available 24/7. If you need to contact us our office in Cranleigh is open Monday-Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm or you can leave us a message after this time and we'll get back to you as soon as possible. If you're visiting in person please call ahead, this office is sometimes un-manned when we are out visiting customers.

History of Bournes in Surrey

Bournes is a family-owned company with over 70 years of experience in serving customers in Cranleigh and throughout Surrey. Before becoming a local branch of Bournes Home Moves our Surrey branch was previously owned by the Cook family, who traded as Cooks of Cranleigh.

Cook's of Cranleigh

Cook's of Cranleigh was a local removals company based in the Cranleigh area, founded in 1945 by Len Cook. The company started out as a general carrier, delivering furniture, groceries and packages throughout the area, branching into Household Goods removals in the 1950's.

Len's sons Trevor and Ced joined the company in the 1960s and helped expand the business, becoming well known in the local area. Following Len's death Cooks purchased another local removal company, 'Blackburns' of Godalming, growing the number of vehicles, staff and storage available for customers in the Surrey area.

In the 1980's Trevor Cook took over the running of the business, moving to its current home, Whitehall, on Horsham Road.

Cook's built an enviable reputation for being a reliable, caring removal company in Cranleigh and the wider Surrey area, and we are proud to say that today much of our custom still comes through recommendations from customers throughout the Surrey area

Joining Bournes Moves

In 2012 Trevor retired and decided to sell Cook's of Cranleigh. He was delighted to sell Cook's to Bournes and the Bourne family, who had a similar customer service ethos.

Both family-run companies shared a passion for excellent customer service and positive experiences, and we welcomed the Cook's team's vast experience in serving their local market with many of Cook's of Cranleigh employees staying with the company.

Bournes continued to operate the business as Cook's of Cranleigh for some time, slowly transitioning into a local branch of Bournes bringing resources together to allow us to better serve our Surrey customers.

Whilst the name and the uniforms may have changed we are proud to continue to offer the same high-quality service and years of experience local customers have always trusted.

Doing your own packing or just looking for boxes? Choose from our wide range of packing boxes, paper, bubble wrap and tape to help get you started. You can ask us to include these in your quote for advance delivery, collect from our Cranleigh Depot on Horhsam Road (please call in advance to arrange) or order online for home delivery here.
