Our 150th anniversary £150 for Charity competition continues to be one of the highlights of our year! Each month we’re inspired by the incredible local organisations that get nominated, and May was no exception. From foodbanks and schools to community music groups, it’s amazing to see just how much passion and dedication exists in the areas we serve.
After a flurry of nominations and some enthusiastic voting, we’re thrilled to announce our May winner: Kings Hill String Club! 🎉🎻
Based in the Maidstone and Tonbridge area, close to our local Tunbridge Wells Removals branch, Kings Hill String Club is a wonderful nonprofit organisation that makes the opportunity to learn a musical instrument accessible to all children, regardless of background. The club provides lessons, group practice, and performance opportunities, helping young musicians grow in skill and confidence through teamwork, creativity, and the joy of music.
This year, the children have worked incredibly hard and earned a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity - they’ve been invited to perform at Disneyland Paris in 2025! It’s an amazing achievement, and the group is now fundraising to make sure no child is left behind, aiming to raise £9,000 to cover travel and accommodation costs for all members. We hope our £150 donation adds a little extra to the pot and helps them on their way. We also want to say a huge well done to our other May finalists:
- 🍏 St. Philip’s Community Larder – providing food, hot drinks, and company to those in need in Tunbridge Wells.
- ⚓ Rye Heritage Centre – home to the iconic Rye Town Model and dedicated to preserving the town’s rich cultural story through exhibits and interactive experiences.
- 🏫 Beckley School Association – bringing parents, teachers, and friends together to raise funds for new equipment and resources to enhance children’s education.
