As part of our ongoing £150 for Charity competition celebrating 150 years in business, August brought another wonderful round of nominations from our local communities. Every month, we’re reminded just how many brilliant organisations are out there — run by passionate people who give their time to make life better for others.
This month’s shortlist included some fantastic causes doing important work in their areas:
- 🏦 Rye Heritage Centre – home to the famous Rye Town Model, penny arcade, and interactive exhibits that keep the history of Rye alive thanks to the dedication of volunteers and supporters.
- 🎒 Friends of Etchingham School (FES) – a hardworking group raising funds to help Etchingham CE Primary School buy equipment and contribute to projects not covered by the school budget.
- 🎲 Go Play Holiday Club – a not-for-profit organisation based in Aylesbury, providing affordable, fun, and safe activities for local children during the school holidays.
After a flurry of likes, shares, and comments on Facebook, we’re thrilled to announce that our August winner is Go Play Holiday Club! 🎉
Run by Southcourt and Walton Court Community Project, Go Play Holiday Club offers a lifeline to families in Aylesbury by providing high-quality holiday childcare for children aged 4–11. During most school breaks, they run action-packed days filled with sports, crafts, games, and local trips — everything from dance sessions to cricket to creative workshops.
It’s a fantastic community initiative that not only gives children new experiences and friendships but also provides essential support to working parents who rely on accessible, trustworthy care during the holidays. We’re so pleased that our £150 donation can help them continue their brilliant work and create even more happy memories for local families.
As a long-established Aylesbury removal company, (previously known as Robinsons of Aylesbury), we’re proud to play our part in supporting local initiatives like Go Play Holiday Club - the kind of organisation that brings people together and makes a real difference where it matters most.
A huge well done as well to the other finalists — Rye Heritage Centre and Friends of Etchingham School — who both do incredible work in their own communities. We’d love to see you all enter again later in the year!
Thank you, as always, to everyone who took part by nominating, voting, and sharing. Your support helps us shine a light on the amazing people and projects that make our communities so special.
Keep an eye out for our September competition, coming soon. We can’t wait to celebrate even more fantastic local causes as we continue our 150th year!
