April brought another brilliant round of nominations for our £150 for Charity giveaway, part of our year-long celebration of 150 years in business. We’re still amazed every month by how many fantastic local charities and community groups are nominated - and April was no exception! The shortlist was full of inspiring organisations doing great work across Surrey, Sussex, and Kent.
After all the votes were counted, we’re thrilled to announce that Friends of The Chandler School (Witley, Surrey) are our April winners! 🎉

The Friends of The Chandler are a dedicated team of parents and staff who volunteer their time to support The Chandler Church of England Junior School. They organise fundraising and social events throughout the year to enhance pupils’ experiences beyond the classroom - from fun days and seasonal fairs to vital projects like revamping outdoor learning spaces and upgrading outdated IT equipment.
Right now, they’re raising funds to refresh the school’s outdoor areas and replace the old ICT suite with new Chromebooks, ensuring every child has access to modern technology and a great environment for learning. Their energy and commitment really stood out to us, and we’re so pleased our £150 donation can contribute to such a worthwhile local project.
We’d also like to give a huge round of applause to our other April finalists:
- 🌱 Life & Soul – a Tunbridge Wells charity supporting young people aged 5–18 through mentoring and workshops that build confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
- 🕊 St Wilfrid’s Hospice – providing compassionate end-of-life care across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, and surrounding areas, especially at a time when funding is stretched and community support is more important than ever.
Each of these organisations represents the best of what our communities are all about - compassion, care, and connection.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate, vote, and share this month’s post. It’s been fantastic to see so many people getting behind the causes that matter to them.
As a long-established local moving company our local Surrey Removals and Storage team (previously known as Cook's of Cranleigh) are proud to be part of such a vibrant and supportive community. Helping local organisations like The Friends of The Chandler is one of the many ways we’re marking our 150th year — giving back to the places and people that make our work so meaningful.
Keep an eye out for May’s competition coming soon — we can’t wait to meet more of the amazing local groups making a difference across our region!
