I really enjoy being part of the Bournes “family”. The work is hard and sometimes the days are long but it’s enjoyable. I’ve been driving for 32 years, in the UK and Europe and driving every type of vehicle in my previous haulage background. I moved into removals for a bit of a change and have been here ever since.
My specialist skills are obviously being as professional a driver as possible having learned to navigate most of the UK and Europe. I’m also very proud of my loading skills which took a while to learn but I can now do easily.
I love meeting different people from all walks of life and professions and like to think I’m friendly and approachable.
My tip for a smooth move is DON’T PANIC!

My team helps you prepare for your move and works with our operations team to make sure everything is in place for move day. We work behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly and that you have a great move.
I joined Bournes in 2014 with no experience and have really enjoyed growing in my role with the support of a family run business. I’ve learnt on the job as well as training with the FIDI Academy, and I love working with our team who have become a great group of friends.
I’m really passionate about making my customers happy. I was very proud to win an award previously from one of our overseas partners for excellent service and love it when we get great feedback!
"Hi, my name is Kirsty, I started as a temp at Bournes in June 2018. I initially started assisting the Sales and Customer Service teams with general admin and sending out quotes, arranging post-move services, taking payments etc.
I am still at Bournes, almost two years on but am now helping new customers with initial queries and supporting the Move Consultants in the pricing of UK moves and booking home survey appointments. This can be quite a challenge, efficiently managing Move Consultant diaries and helping to match availability with our customer needs to keep everyone happy.
I enjoy pretty much everything about my job! We are a great team in the office that I work with, the bosses are lovely too! We have lovely customers that call in to book surveys. They have been very understanding and complimentary as to how we have dealt with the Covid-19 outbreak particularly with regards to move consultants visits. We have been able to make use of our video survey system on some occasions which can take a little explaining as it's a bit different for our customers, but on the whole they have been very understanding and patient with us and I'm glad everyone can stay safe!
Bournes are very family-oriented I have appreciated how accomodating work/life balance has never been a problem. I have a flexible work agreement as I have a 6 year old at Primary School, and a 13 year old at Secondary, so need to be there for the school run so this has really helped.
I'm proud that we get some great compliments at Bournes for the way our moves are handled - this is always escalated out to the many departments involved - it really is a group effort from start to finish.
It is a great place to work, the people are lovely and we do have a giggle! Well, that is important too!"
