FIDI, the leading professional association for International Household Goods Movers, has written to its members around the world to update them on the impact on the moving industry of the significant rises in energy costs.

In an open letter (read here) FIDI Secretary-General Jesse van Sas highlighted the World Bank's expected energy rises for 2022 and the expectations that 2023 and 2024 prices will stay higher than average.

Large-FIDI-Focus-Energy-price-infographic-2022-415x1280The impact of these trends is being felt in the majority of industries. In the moving industry household goods movers are facing substantially higher bills for overland, sea and air transport; for running their offices; for packaging materials and other overheads and in turn these costs will often mean unavoidable increases in charges to customers.

FIDI are continuing to monitor the market and update significant developments to its membership, and in turn at Bournes we will continue to communicate challenges and best possible solutions with our customers.
