Where to live when you move to Perth

Posted by By Kirsty Parsons - November 19, 2014

Whatever the reason for your move, you’ll need somewhere to settle. But with so much choice, you might need a little help narrowing it all down to help you decide where to live when you move to Perth

Central Business District: Home to the tallest building in the City, this is – as the name suggests – a hive of corporate activity. With the Swan River to the south and east and Kings Park to the west, this one of the more picturesque CBDs you’ll encounter, and the excellent transport links make it extremely easy for those living in the outer suburbs who are looking to commute to and from work here.

Subiaco: Often referred to simply as ‘Subi’, this is a typically “young” suburb and an ideal location for young, single expats or professional couples without children. The stylish, cosmopolitan atmosphere is ideal for those seeking an active social life as there’s plenty to do after work and at weekends.

Fremantle: Another one for those who enjoy an active social life, Fremantle is characterised by its stunning heritage buildings from the colonial era. There is plenty to do here – from arts and live music to al fresco dining and exploring the nature reserves. Excellent transport links keep you connected to the rest of the City, making it a popular all-round choice for many expats from different parts of the world.

City Beach, Applecross & Bicton: If money is no object and you’re after the idyllic lifestyle a tree-lined street or chic city beach house can offer then these are the regions you need to be looking in. These are particularly prestigious areas and locals often spend their spare time at yacht or golf clubs or simply enjoying the vast amount of green space on offer.

Willetton: Located around 15km south of the CBD, Willetton is an incredibly diverse suburb with a good, broad spectrum of property on offer. The area generally attracts those of average income and is a mixture of middle and upper class families. A great area for expats with children.
